What Happens if You are Charged with a Felony in Burlington County NJ?
After a criminal charge has been brought by a law enforcement officers, the county is contacted to decide whether or not to detain the defendant on a criminal summons warrant or to release the defendant on a summons complaint. In either scenario a court date will be scheduled where the defendant must appear at the Burlington County Superior Court for a hearing. Depending on the severity of your charges, you may be subject to a pretrial detention hearing, if a motion is filed by the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office. From there, your matter will either be indicted before a grand jury or it will be resolved pre-indictment.
